Hello! My name is Stephen Brunner, and I am a seminarian for the Diocese of Madison. I am in my second and final year of Pre-Theology studies at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, Michigan.
For those of you who may not know me well, I grew up in Philadelphia, PA, the youngest of three boys. I was raised in a loving Catholic family. As a child, my Mom and Dad made it a priority to gather us around the dinner table as often as they could, and we attended Mass weekly as a family. During my high school years, I attended Holy Ghost Prep, an all-boys Catholic high school in Bensalem, PA, where I became interested in math and physics. After graduating from high school in the spring of 2004, I attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, where I finished a B.S. in physics in the spring of 2008. I then came to graduate school in Madison to pursue a program in Medical Physics. I was awarded my Ph.D. in Medical Physics from the University of Wisconsin in the summer of 2013, and entered directly into seminary formation.
As Our Lord tells us in Luke 19:26, “I tell you, to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away” (Luke 19:26). Our Lord has given us many graces throughout our lives and continues to do so in our everyday lives. It is a great joy and a grace from God to be able to discern His call to the priesthood. I look forward to meeting you and seeing you around the Cathedral Parish. Feel free to email me if you have any questions or comments at: firstname.lastname@example.org. Jesus, I trust in you.
