Nicole Carter
Nicole Carter is the Director of Parish Life and Mission at the Cathedral Parish in Madison, She grew up in Waterloo, WI in a Catholic family of six. When she was seventeen, her family received a great gift as her youngest brother was born, making it a family of seven. Nicole attended Catholic grade & high schools, and graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design. She oversees many aspects of parish life including liturgy, volunteering, communications and parish events, with a special emphasis on young adult ministry.
During college, Nicole fell away from the Church and wandered lost. She eventually developed a love for Christ at an Evangelical Free church in Madison, but her journey soon led her back to the fullness of faith, the Catholic Church, as she truly learned and internalized the beauty and truth of the Church for the first time. The Cathedral Parish has a special place in her heart, as her return to God’s Sanctifying Grace began at both St Patrick’s and Holy Redeemer.
Nicole had a strong career in kitchen design/outside sales for builders in Madison for eight years. In 2009, she felt a call to work for the Church she loves so dearly and about a year later, in 2010, took the leap to the Cathedral Parish as the Director of Parish Life and Mission. She currently lives in her home in Sun Prairie and enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing with her nieces/nephews, praying, learning and living the faith, traveling, cooking/baking, doing yard work, outdoor activities, exercising, biking, reading, and many other various activities.
