All Catholics share in the mission that the Lord gave to the Church: to proclaim the Gospel and to make Him present in the world. We do this in many ways – in our homes, places of work, and civic life.
Our goal at the Cathedral Parish is to express a strong sense of this mission in our common parish life, as well as assisting this mission at the diocesan level. We have been given a job to do – to make the Lord known, and to make Him present in our place and time.
Our hope is that all the members of the Cathedral Parish will see their participation in parish life as their way of helping to fulfill this mission.
All parishioners are asked to support the Cathedral Parish financially, according to their means, so that the work done here to help more people know, love and serve the true God can continue. More broadly, parishioners are invited to support the efforts of the Church at the diocesan level.
Each parishioner should also prayerfully consider what he or she can do to participate directly in some of the many aspects of parish life described in these pages.
Annual Time, Talent, and Treasure Drive
Each fall, the opportunity for parishioners to discern and participate in various activities will be presented through a Time, Talent, and Treasure Drive.
We take the opportunity to give back to the Lord and to participate in the life of his Church in three areas:
Time
Our social and outreach efforts exist only through the generosity of parishioners who donate their time to work at the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry, visit our sick and homebound parishioners, host the parish brunches, assist with office tasks – to name a few.
Talent
Parishioners offer their unique capabilities to enhance the liturgy (as lectors, cantors, musicians), to beautify our environment (our grounds, buildings, publications) and to contribute to the temporal welfare of the parish (with expertise in maintenance, financial matters, and so on).
Treasure
The life of the Church could not continue without the faithful financial support of its members. During the drive, members are invited to consider their current giving and evaluate if they are providing generously for the needs of the parish, the diocese, and the whole Church, and then pledge their giving for the next year. This method of pledged giving enables the parish to plan more appropriately, knowing what resources will be available to support its mission and life.
Electronic Funds Transfer
The Cathedral Parish offers of a form of giving that may be convenient for many of our parishioners: electronic funds transfer (EFT). This form of automatic giving can be initiated by contacting Tom Mecum at the parish office or by downloading the form here.
