We do not live our faith as solitary individuals, but as members of a community of believers. We are part of the Universal Church which is the One Body of Christ, and members of a particular parish.
The life of the Cathedral Parish includes fostering friendships among ourselves, so that we may learn from one another, be encouraged by one another, and give each other support in any difficulty. The Cathedral Parish provides opportunities for social and spiritual activities which facilitate continued growth in living our Catholic faith to the fullest in community with others in our parish.
Throughout the year, our parish celebrates particular feasts that are important to our members:
ST. PATRICK’S DAY
On the weekend nearest March 17th, there is a meal after the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass at St. Patrick Church to celebrate its patron.
CORPUS CHRISTI
The Feast of Corpus Christi is marked by a Eucharistic procession through the streets of the isthmus. Those who have celebrated Mass with the Bishop at St. Patrick and those who have celebrated Mass in Spanish at Holy Redeemer meet at the Capitol, and then proceed to Holy Redeemer for Benediction.
OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE
Holy Redeemer is the site of very large celebrations for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Mañanitas (featuring a cultural program, procession, and late night Mass in Spanish) are held on the vigil of the feast; and Mass in Spanish is celebrated again on the evening of December 12th.
BRUNCHES
Once a month, parishioners and visitors are invited to share a communal brunch after Mass. Brunches also provide an opportunity for the registration of new members.
FUNERAL LUNCHES
Parishioners help to provide economical luncheons for families after funerals at our churches.
SOCIAL COMMITTEE
Composed of parishioners who desire to facilitate the community life of the parish. The Committee meets to discuss and plan various events through the calendar year including brunches, feast day celebrations, and other extraordinary liturgical or social events.
If you are interested in getting involved in any of these opportunities please contact Nicole Carter at 257-5000 or nicole@isthmuscatholic.org.
