HOLY REDEEMER CATHOLIC CHURCH
Holy Redeemer Church was established in 1857 by German-speaking Catholics in Madison. Currently it serves a large Spanish-speaking community, as well as University students and other local Catholics.
120 W. Johnson St.
Madison, WI 53703
Holy Redeemer is located just off State Street. Johnson Street and Gorham Street are the two arterial streets carrying traffic through the isthmus. There are two gates controlling access to the Holy Redeemer parking lot: one controlling entry to the lot from Gorham St, and another allowing exit toward Johnson St.
- Before a scheduled event (at least 30 minutes before Masses & 15 minutes before confessions), the Gorham St gate will open to allow anyone coming to church to park. Those entering from Johnson St will not be able to get into the main lot at any time.
- The Johnson St gate will open to allow exit toward Johnson St any time a car pulls up to it from the larger part of the lot. Once you’re in the gated area, you can always get out that way by pulling up to the gate.
- At times when no parish activity is scheduled, the gate allowing entry from Gorham St will be closed. Only the parking spaces between the church & Lumen House will be accessible from Johnson St – for those coming for Adoration, an appointment at the rectory, or anyone needing to visit the church.
- Another parking option is the State Street Capitol Garage, located directly across the street from Holy Redeemer at 100 W. Johnson St. Rates are $1.00 per hour, and they accept Visa, MasterCard, and cash.
