Theology on Tap
With the release of the latest Star Wars films, the ancient monastery atop Skellig Michael has enchanted the world with its beautiful vistas. It is an island with deep religious history, home to an ancient Christian monastery. What's fascinating is how closely these monks resemble the Jedi who have brought the island to life in the latest Star Wars universe. At this month’s Theology on Tap, author Philip Kosloski will delve into the lives of these heroic monks, draw parallels between Star wars and Irish monasticism, and reflect on how these monks can inspire us today.
Philip Kosloski graduated from the University of Saint Thomas in Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and Catholic studies and a master’s degree in theology from the Augustine Institute. He is currently the spirituality writer for Aleteia.org and is the author of “The Last Monks of Skellig Michael." He works and lives with his family in Wisconsin Rapids.
