Theology on Tap - "Why Christianity? A Catholic Looks at Judaism"
Dr. Aharon Zorea is a practicing Catholic living in Southwest Wisconsin with his wife and two sons. He was raised Jewish, and his family immigrated to Israel to live in a small Chasidic Community, where he, his father and his brothers planned to study at the Rabbinical Yeshiva. While in Israel, though, his family converted to Christianity and they all moved back to the States only a year after their arrival. This unique childhood experience helped to define his later vocation as a professor of intellectual history.
Zorea earned his doctorate from Saint Louis University specializing in policy history and medieval intellectual history. He is a professor of History in the University of Wisconsin Colleges. Zorea has written dozens of articles on American presidential politics and on various aspects of social policy. His recent books have focused on trends in medical history, including Birth Control (2012) and Steroids (2014). His most recent book, Finding the Fountain of Youth: The Science and Controversy Behind Extending Life and Cheating Death is due out in 2017.
