Theology on Tap - "Uncovering Modesty: Clothing Ourselves with Dignity and Joy (and doing it fashionably too!)"
In Catholic tradition, modesty is listed as one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit along with joy, peace, and generosity, yet in today's culture it is often associated with prudishness and turtlenecks. In 'uncovering modesty' we will explore how to live out this virtue that informs and inspires a free, joyfilled way of life that is "clothed with Christ Jesus" (Rom 11:13). We will also talk about the Incarnational nature of our bodies & how fashion can be embraced as a means to honor our dignity as persons and as a tool for evangelization.
Theology on Tap is a monthly event where 20s&30s are invited to join us for free beer and engaging talks by some of the leading thinkers, speakers, educators, innovators, and activists in the nation as they share their insights on various contemporary issues facing young adults today.
Monica Freng holds a liberal arts degree with a major in Theology from Ave Maria College - one of those "so small you never knew it existed" institutions, and worked actively in young adult ministry before "retiring" to be a stay-at-home mom. She lives in Madison with her husband, Ryan, and their two little girls, Clare and Hannah. They are eagerly expecting Freng baby #3 in May of next year. Monica is also a self-taught designer, and creates bespoke (one-of-a-kind) wedding gowns under the label Monirose, Bespoke Gowns, which she began in 2008 after creating her own wedding dress.
