St. Patrick church was established in 1888 for English-speaking Catholics living east of the Capitol.

St Patrick is located three blocks east of the Capitol Square. From East Washington Avenue, turn south on Hancock Street (one way) and go one block to St. Patrick. The church parking lot is one block east of St. Patrick church, in between Franklin and Blair streets, on the same side of Main Street as the church. It has a sign that says ‘Cathedral Parish Parking Lot’ in blue lettering.
There are also several other parking options besides the church parking lot. The Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce parking lot is available for use on evenings and weekends (for free)! Enter lot from Franklin St. between E. Main and E. Washington. There are many street parking options surrounding St. Patrick. Some parking spots are 2 hr. spots while some are metered spots. Meters and 2 hr. time limits are not enforced on Sundays! The Brayton Lot (City of Madison parking lot) can be accessed at 10 S. Butler St. and parking spots can be paid for at a pay-on-foot paystation. Rates are $1.50 per hour, and they accept Visa, MasterCard, and cash.
